If you need a technical drafter, you are rarely looking for an abstract solution but for someone to finish a concrete pile of drawings. We produce 2D drafting, floor plans, sections, details and piping schematics, and where the project calls for it we also model in 3D. We also handle as-built drawings and revision rounds on existing sets that no longer match after changes on site.
Our work is drafting and modelling, not engineering. We do not carry out calculations or advise on structures, which keeps the boundary clear and the collaboration simple.
Our team drafts remotely from our own office, in our own environment and with our own licences. We take on the volume that gets left behind in your drawing office, usually repetitive work with a lot of recurring elements. Everyone who drafts for us has more than ten years of experience with CAD. Sam, our team leader, directs the technical side and keeps the project on track. That way you keep control over the content while we handle the production.

How the process works when you need a technical drafter
With us, it starts with a conversation in which we go through the project. You tell us what is already there, what needs to be finished and which documents are available. We usually receive existing drawings that need revising, supplemented by dimensions, details and photos of the situation. We read through that material, identify what is unclear and ask our questions in one go rather than bit by bit. We then draft a first part and deliver it, so your project leader can see early on how we work. We collect feedback on that first part.
We make adjustments, incorporate the comments into the rest of the set and carry on with the volume. We keep up that rhythm until the set is complete. We agree the meeting rhythm together with you. When it is urgent we speak every two days, and on a calmer project a weekly check-in is enough. Every component goes through at least three review layers with us. A drafter draws, a second team member checks that work, Sam reviews it technically as team leader, and Barry, our project manager, carries out the final check.
As a result, the number of errors stays minimal in practice and your drawing office does not have to act as a safety net. Our day-to-day contact runs via email, phone and meetings. On larger projects, such as greenhouse construction, we use software you can log into to follow progress. For standalone AutoCAD drafting we simply deliver by email. We come by when that helps, and you are welcome at our office.
Software and file formats our drafters work in
Revit, AutoCAD and Rhino are our main programs. We also have Inventor and Grasshopper in-house, and to a limited extent Dynamo and Vault. We always work with the latest versions, so a file you supply opens on our side without detours. If you supply files in an older version, we agree in advance which version we deliver back in. That prevents your own drawing office from ending up with a set that only opens on our side.
In terms of formats, we deliver and process DXF, DWG, Revit formats and STEP files, and in practice virtually any common CAD format. More important than the format is how well the work connects to the existing set. We work to your CAD standards and drawing conventions, which we receive at the start of the project. We adopt layer structure, lineweights, hatching, blocks, title blocks and naming exactly as you use them. If there is no documented standard, we derive it from the existing material and present our choices before we start on the volume.
In Revit, we first look at the families and templates that already exist. Sometimes we clean them up, and sometimes we rebuild a component from scratch because repairing a messy set takes more time than starting again. We draft in our own environment with our own licences, not in your system. Files go back and forth by email, and on a larger project we work in software where you can follow along and track progress per component without having to call us.
No ongoing payroll costs and no idle staff once the peak is over. If one of our people is off sick or on holiday, we replace them and the work simply carries on.
Scaling up with our large, variable team
Our permanent team is already in place, so we do not need to recruit as soon as a project picks up. We can start small and deploy as many drafters from our large, variable team as the work requires. We decide on that scale based on the volume, the deadline and the amount of repetition in the set. If an urgent request comes in, we add people straight away rather than creating a queue. For you, little changes in that case: the point of contact stays the same, and so do the agreements on standards and delivery. Barry picks up the first enquiry, after which Sam takes over the technical side. Sam has more than fifteen years of background in architecture, worked in Iran for seven years, ran his own design firm in the Netherlands and is still active as an engineer.
Combined, the core of our team has around twenty-five years of experience. If one of our people drops out due to illness or holidays, we move a colleague onto the job and the drafting simply continues. You pay no ongoing payroll costs and do not keep capacity on standby that sits idle between two projects. When a deadline once could not move, we worked through evenings and weekends with days of fourteen to fifteen hours, including during Sam's planned holiday. That is not our standard rhythm, but it shows how we deal with a hard date when a handover on site depends on it.
Getting started when you need a drafter now
Once no information is missing, we start. In practice that means: the existing files, a description of the output you need and the drawing conventions that apply within your company. We respond to a new enquiry within 1 to 2 working days, after which we schedule a conversation to go through the project. In that conversation we look at the type of drawings, the number, the amount of repetition and the date by which the set must be complete.
We then choose the form of collaboration together. We charge by the hour or per project at a fixed price, depending on how sharply the scope can be defined in advance. When billing by the hour we only record genuine working hours, so if someone steps away for five minutes to get a coffee, the clock stops.
We do not work with prepaid hour bundles or monthly hour subscriptions. A short assignment is fine, and if you wish we start with a small first part so you can judge our speed and accuracy. The intellectual property of everything we draft belongs to you. If you ask for a non-disclosure agreement, we will sign it. Our clients are engineering firms, architectural practices, contractors and manufacturers, and the people at the table are usually managers, team leaders and owners.
